Designing GWH - Gross World Happiness

The U.S. Constitution guarantees the pursuit of happiness. In addition to the GDP, Bhutan measures GNH, Gross National Happiness. Most people want happiness, peace and prosperity worldwide. History shows that fundamentalism and greed cause war and suffering. The greedy use the fundamentalists of any religion to divide and conquer. The remnants of these scared and unconscious believers, though well-intentioned, would move the world to Armageddon.

Fortunately, people around the world are waking up. Perhaps a critical mass is already awake, meaning the consciousness of the species will make the quantum leap. Knowing our connectedness reaps the fruits of love and peace among all Beings, resulting in a new paradigm of human existence. Imagine the disappearance of fear-based governance. Imagine loving conflict resolution, as each party stops to really listen to the other points of view with respect and compassion. Imagine the universal realization that money, sex and power do not offer lasting happiness. Imagine the haves truly and unconditionally sharing with the least of these.

The new world leaders in this paradigm will be elected on the basis of their integrity, their wisdom and their compassion; the new corporate leaders on the basis of their ingenuity, success using right means, and desire to serve the common good, world happiness. If we can imagine it, we can create it. Change begins on the inside. When we stop the war and the greed inside each one of us, it will end. And change happens faster now. We make it happen. This web site (WFD) offers tools and information to help us create GWH.

Global Happiness requires respect for human rights and for all life. If you want to get involved in working to protect human rights worldwide, contact Amnesty International.

Or,get involved with another organization defending human rights worldwide,Human Rights Watch.

Read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as adopted and proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) on December 10, 1948.

The current administration has demonstrated little respect for human rights and the rule of law. It has been said that taking away rights in the name of security results in the loss of both. Now is the time to get involved if you love freedom. The American Civil Liberties Union seeks to preserve:
Your First Amendment rights-freedom of speech, association and assembly. Freedom of the press, and freedom of religion supported by the strict separation of church and state.
Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin.
Your right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of your liberty or property is at stake.
Your right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your personal and private affairs.

When our freedoms in the networked world come under attack, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), founded in 1990, defends our free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights. "Blending the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists, EFF achieves significant victories on behalf of consumers and the general public. EFF fights for freedom primarily in the courts, bringing and defending lawsuits even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations. By mobilizing more than 50,000 concerned citizens through our Action Center, EFF beats back bad legislation. In addition to advising policymakers, EFF educates the press and public. Sometimes just defending technologies isn't enough, so EFF also supports the development of freedom-enhancing inventions."

An essay on the next evolutionary leap

And the people grew up and stopped fighting. War was outlawed, along with violence and aggression toward any being. Weapons were recycled. The mandate of all governments became to help all the people of the world live happy and free. Only the United Nations had the means to send in a multi-national force (with the few remaining weapons), and then only to prevent violence. Each country in the United Nations had an equal vote as long as they respected the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and did not pollute their nations. Natural resources were fairly distributed. Wildlife habitats were protected. Animals were treated with respect. Trees were planted and gardens created. Deserts flourished. The people agreed to focus on sustainability in all areas, including population growth. People who grew up with violent tendencies experienced love and rehabilitation so the cycle of abuse eventually ended. No one was treated like an object. Corporations were scaled back to their original charters, that of purely business interests. They were not allowed to influence public policy nor operate outside their borders. They had to obey the laws of operating sustainably and promoting the common good. Anti-trust laws were enforced. No corporation was allowed to grow too large. The salary of the top executives could not exceed a certain percentage of the least paid employees, so that if the company profited, all the employees profited. Utilities became cooperatives of renewable cheap energies. More of the media became not for profit, universally accessible and open to all parties with time fairly allocated. Candidates for public office did not need huge sums of money to run and were given ample time to present their ideas in the public media. You no longer needed to register to vote as every citizen of age was eligible (even former criminals). Special interest groups and lobbyists had to argue the merits of their cases since they no longer could influence by bribery, gifts or campaign contributions (which were no longer needed). Taxes were simplified and reduced since there were no longer deductions or an expensive IRS or a war machine to run. Actually taxes were not reduced until all the poor were helped out of the cycle of poverty, criminals loved, and rehabilitated where possible, drug addicts loved with plenty of treatment available, and education resources equally reaching all children. Then, tax rates decreased greatly. Whenever a natural disaster loomed, the whole world responded with preparation, response, aid and recovery. People explored their interests and no longer had to struggle to survive. Art, music, theatre, dance, and literature thrived. Engineering, science and math in free universities exploded into new frontiers by no longer being limited to research that produced profits but research that increased knowledge, only subject to safeguards for all life and ethical considerations. Spirituality and investigations into the mysteries of the universes occurred without government interference as long as no group sought to control others. The basic tenet of live and let live as long as you do no harm was adopted worldwide. People all over the world had the resources to travel and visit each other, if they so desired. All cultures were respected. Nations were sovereign but open to tourism. Immigration became based more on affinity than the poor trying to get to the richer nations, because all nations were prosperous and all people enjoying the benefits of the world’s abundant resources, both natural and intellectual.
This is our future if we choose it. - C.D. Bevis, cdbevis@yahoo.com
